General Announcements: ***Field Day is Wednesday, May 20th! Our room parents are taking care of our snacks and drinks. ***Awards Day is Friday, May 22nd, starting at 9:00. You will receive notification this week if your child is receiving an award.

Bulldogs/Tigers: Students should finish The Hiding Place by Tuesday, May 19th. We will be working on chapter posters within our groups this week as we complete our study. Students will also be working on review projects in the classroom with their group members and presenting them to the class. All of this work will be completed in the classroom.

Gators/Vols: Students have finished Four Perfect Pebbles, and we will work on chapter posters within our groups this week. All of this work will be completed in the classroom. Students will present their posters to the class. Students will not have homework this week.

Monday and Tuesday IC: We are in the laptop lab using the inspiration program to create diagrams for the six troublesome verbs. No homework :-

Week of April 20th

Bulldogs/Tigers: We are starting The Hiding Place this week. Rachel Shankman, the current director of Facing History and Ourselves in Memphis, will be speaking to all of the students on Friday in the auditorium. This will be a great introduction to our novel study. Thanks to Mrs. Greenburg for arranging the speaker from Facing History and Ourselves!

Vols/Gators: We will also be starting Holocaust novels in the classroom. We will be reading The Children of Willesden Lane.

I will also do a read aloud for all classes of the novel, The Devil’s Arithmetic, toward the end of the school year. This novel is also historical fiction based on the Holocaust. At the conclusion of our Holocaust study, we will view the movie based on The Devil’s Arithmetic and view the documentary, Paper Clips.

***All students will recite a poem provided in class on May 11th.

ALL CLASSES: Students need to bring in a folder with pockets and brads by Friday, 3/27. This folder will be used for our poetry folder. We will work on this in class, but students will have some independent work for the poetry folder. The due date is Monday, April 13th.
